Q. Where are you located? A. We are located at 1570 Acquoni Road across from the Cherokee High School, directly between the Qualla Civic Center and the Best Western Hotel.
A.We open daily from 7:45 to 6:00 Monday-Thursday, and 7:45 to 5:00 on Fridays. We are also open to our members on teacher work days and early dismissals and we do reccomend early pick-up in severe weather conditions.
A. We have a lot to offer: 4 pool tables, 3 foosball tables, 5 large TV's, Air Hockey, tons of board games, multiple video gaming systems, various programs relating to child, pre-teen and teen development, 25 student acess computers across the property, a weight room, and some of the best employees in the business. We also have one of the nicest and largest outdoor playgrounds in the area.
A. We do not currently offer any organized sports here at the center, although we do promote sports, fitness and recreation. We also co-sponser the Youth Soccer League here in the area. Q. How much does it cost? A. Our fees are as follows: $10 per school year and $100 for our summer 11 week program. Just stop on in, check us out and fill out one of our membership forms. Q. Why would I want to join? A. We keep kids off of the street and in an environment where they can learn and have fun. We have a great staff that can provide one-on-one education as well as help children adapt to group settings. Our program can provide the supplement to education as well as open doors for other growth and oppertunity.
A. We currently have over 300 members enrolled, somewhere between 125 and 175 show up on a daily basis. Q. How can I help? A. We always need volunteers that are willing to help our youth with reading, math, science, language arts, etc... Many of our youth require afterschool tutoring in a broad area of studies. We are always looking for new crafts, hobbies, games, music lessons and so on to teach our club members. Plus, if you enjoy the public we can always use help answering the phones, running errands, greeting the members as there buses arrive and or preparing meals and snacks.
A. If you have things you no longer use or just laying around the house feel free to donate them to the club. We are able to use most everything but if not we certinaly know someone that can. If you like you may make monetary donations and "ALL" donations go directly to support the Boys and Girls Club of Cherokee. Plus, all your donations are tax deductible...
A. For more information on volunteering opportunities please contact Mrs. Candace Crowe at (828) 497-3119. There are so many ways that you can help and benefit from volunteering at the Cherokee Youth Center (Boys and Girls Club of America).
